JAPAN Day 12

Hello friends. Japan day 12!

We all had the morning off today. Just to rest in time for our BIG day at the joy festival tomorrow morning.
Kate and I started our day at the local starbucks, with good coffee and some quiet time and prayer! Needed it this morning. God is SO good! Thanks for all your prayers back home, we have needed it this week. Defiantly couldn't do it without Gods strength.
Starbucks goodness. Reading 'Life is' by the one and only Judah Smith!

A wet and rainy day here in Japan. Was kind of nice after a few hot days. Loving the black and white! Plus i love the rain... just not the cold! So its perfect when its a good 24 degrees! Also most Japanese people are highly skilled at riding a bike with an umbrella. They all do it!

 Our street here in Yokohama.

Went out prayer walking in another part of Yokohama. Basically a red light district, lots of gambling and prostitution. Was awesome to pray God into those areas. Laura and I also prayed for a girl who had broken her arm. She felt the Holy Spirit, and said she felt joy and the pain leave! Go God!

Another few testimonies from the team- a few people also gave their lives to God after hearing the gospel and experiencing the Holy Spirit.
One guy was healed of an ankle injury- he couldn't believe it, he also have his life to God.

This building had a vine growing up it.

We spoke to this guy on the street. And prayed a blessing over him. He came back and gave us a bag full of bananas. Pretty funny! So much joy! Chris is convinced this guy called him cute... but Im pretty sure he was pointing at the ladies ;)

Dayne speaking with this guy, telling him about Jesus. Got to pray a blessing over him.

Had dinner with a whole bunch of the team at a cool place in Yokohama. Ended up holding and joining hands with two tables near us and praying grace together. It's defiantly the simple things in life thst are joyful!

And tonight I ended my night at a sento. A public Japanese bath!
You go naked. Haha so it was quite an experience!
But it was just Pam, Sarah and I on the girls side, which was great! We shared our testimonies and spoke about God moving in our lives. Was pretty funny as we all hadn't shared our testimony naked before! Goodness.
.
Today was extra hard being pretty exhausted, even though God still used me- all Glory to him as it was His strength and not mine. I could of been in bed all day otherwise!  Anyway, massive day tomorrow. Keep praying as week seek to bring joy and love to the people here in Japan. God is doing BIG things, so awesome to be apart of it!

Peace and love xxx

JAPAN Day 11

Day 11 in Japan today. 5th day of Shine!
this morning Jess and I started with Psalm 27, and breakfast on the roof in the sunshine. We have noticed how much down time we need this week. Becomes the foundations of our day.

Today I was pretty wrecked after a massive day yesterday. But was excited to see how God worked through the team.

We started with worship and prayer with the team again! Was an awesome time to praise God for what he is doing for Japan. We prayed for the next 10 years, and how God is moving amongst the church here in Japan.

 Praying before outreach today.

 The team.

Few of the peeps from New Jersey! Just liked this one! This was taken walking to the Red Brick Warehouse here in Yokohama.

 Laura and Jess!

Laura and Sarah. Canada and Texas. Same same! Love their happy souls!

Yokohama city where we did out reach today.
although this place is concrete city, it does have some awesome landscapes!

Yokohama city from along the water.

Jacob chatting with a Japanese man. So amazing to see so many people love on the people of Japan all at once! And how easy it is to honour and glorify God through it. Such a beautiful thing to witness.

Dayne got to share his testimony with  these two Japanese people!

Was a bit of a tougher day today! A lot of the people we got to chat to were pretty shut off, and was harder to speak with them! A few from the team saw healings and got to pray for people! God is still shaping the heart of Japan. So amazing to see the shift and pray for break through over this country!

Tonight we got to jump like crazy! We had Ben Jack, a DJ from the UK come and play for us. Share the gospel and praise God. Even though I had hardly any energy we all still managed to somehow dance our butts off for a few hours! Was a lot of fun!

The night ended with snacks and chats at our American friends place. Love me a team bonding session over weird Japanese food!

Of course good laughs were had!

Tomorrow we have the morning off... which I'm so excited about.  Have loved this week. But it has defiantly taken a toll. The team is pretty exhausted!  We will still do out reach in the afternoon. But keen to recoop in the morning.

We have a massive day Saturday for the Joy Festival in Tokyo. It's going to be incredible. We are expecting 1000 people to show up.
Also, a link of the outreach we did yesterday... have a watch! God is good!

JAPAN Day 10

Japan day 9. Wooo. 4th day of Shine!
Wow was it amazing!
I write this and I sound pumped, because I am so excited for what God did today. But I am also super tired! Another 28 degree day here. So it was hot, but I'm not complaining about the sunshine!! I love it!

This morning we heard from Ben Jack. Who is a Christian DJ over in the UK. Was awesome to hear his perspective and response to outreach! We then prayed for Japan as a nation, that God would touch them!
We also did worship and prayer as a team.

Praying before we started the day. We split up into 3 groups today and just walked around different areas of Yokohama.
Pam praying for us before we went out.

The tourists and locals here were fascinated by the music and also the blond hair! It is rare in Japan. #5minutesoffame.

Matay filming encounters and getting footage of what God is doing. He does a wonderful job!

Worshipping on the streets of Yokohama.

 More photos with random people!

 Pam, Kateh and myself.

Pam is so much fun! Full of so much laughter and light. My goodness! So awesome to meet people from the other side of the world and serve with them!
Local school kids speaking English with us for an assignment.  Not quite sure what Tay is doing!

The wonderful and amazing Kateh. Another sneaky photo by myself. I just want to say how awesome she is, and how much she means to me. Would not be the person I am today without her craziness and encouragement!

Today's outreach was so great in the area we were in. The team I was in walked around a park near the water. We handed out flyers and wristbands and spoke to some people! For myself, I have really found it hard to reach the Japanese people because it is hard to have a conversation with them- not knowing the language. So this morning I was praying that God would still use me here.
Also handing out testimonies (the flyers) and wristbands isn't creating that relationship and connection I feel like I would need to tell them about God. But this all changed when I met Tsuta. (Don't ask me how to pronounce it).

I really felt lead to talk with her. She was just passing by the music that some of the team were playing (above photos). I went up to her and said 'Hi' in Japanese, and tried to start a conversation. With the little English she knew and then general hand conversations she told me she was a native Japanese. And that she walked along the water everyday! She really wanted to chat, as she kept talking to me in Japanese. I just kept nodding haha but was trying my best to understand. I gave her a wrist band, and said it was like mine. She was so thankful that I had given her something. This is when Nailer (guys from brazil, living in Japan) came across to help translate. From there on through translation we had a massive conversation. I told her why I was in Japan, and doing mission. And that God loved her. She didn't know God- but had remembered that 3 years ago, she had heard about Christianity. This opened a whole window. I then asked if she needed prayer for anything and she politely refused. She then told me how she was scared of dying, because she didn't know where she would go after death. I explained the Gospel and told her how she can have life through Jesus and believing in Him. John 3:16
I then asked if I could pray for her, and she allowed me to. I just prayed for peace over her. I felt a sense of loneliness too, so I told her that in and with Jesus she is never alone. And God is with her!

She really opened up to me after this. The conversation went on and I found out she was 82 years old, she has lived where she is now for the last 50 years, and has lived in Japan her whole life. When she was here in WW2 and was very poor & She used to have hardly any clothes and didn't own much at all. She also had a bad relationship with her Mother. Her Mother also died when she was 14. She has never married and no had children or family left near her. The only family she has is her sister who lives 4 hours away. She is completely alone! But she said when she felt alone and sad she would think of her Mother on her death bed and holding her hand.. to make herself feel better. That had been her hope... for the last 70 or so years!  Wow. By this point I was in tears! My heart broke for this woman, who was scared and had so much loneliness. She said she as waiting to die. And had no hope or joy a lot of her life!
Wow! I honestly didn't know what to say, other then the fact that God loves her, and through Him she can have joy and peace!
She started to tear up too, and was blessed by me just listening and being touched by her story!
She then started saying how when she gives now to people who need help, or has done in the past, they haven't received it well. The Japanese are very prideful and respectful. So when Tsuta had tried to give and be kind, people wouldn't accept her love of giving. She was also deeply hurt that she had never received much love and people hadn't received the love she had to offer.
Man oh man.
She was crying, I was crying!
After talking more about God and what it means to know him and follow him,  I then asked if she wanted to giver her life to God.
She repeated after me in a simple form (translation is harder so we had to make it simple)
"Dear God, thank-you for loving me, thank-you that you know me, thank-you that you have been with me all these years, thank-you for sending your Son to die for my sins, I accept you as my Lord and believe in you. Amen"

AMEN IS RIGHT! She gave her life to God, she is now free from worry and a life full of emptiness. She has eternal life and freedom in the Kingdom of God!
How good is our God.
She said she was so blessed by speaking with me, as I was touched by speaking and hearing about her story. She said she rarely says nice things because of all the hurt she has had, but now she has joy! So much joy. Yay Jesus!

This is common in Japan, so many people (especially old people) are lost and without hope. And like Tsuta- are waiting to die. It is so sad! So it was awesome to be apart of that and lead someone that doesn't speak my language and is 61 years older then me to the Lord!

Laura and Chris doing worship. So so good!
 Telling the locals about Jesus!

The team back together after worship telling testimonies. 3 people gave their lives to god today! Just by being out there for 2 hours.

After we then had a night of prayer and worship. We heard from Lee and Carla. Two fellow Australians that also have a heart for Japan.

Quite a massive day over here! So encouraged how God can use me just by stepping out, even when I don't know the language or there are so many opportunities. I spoke to a lot of people today who are open to listen, but are just being respectful. Respect is massive in Japan, such an honourable city. But even though I was finding it hard to communicate,  God still used me!
As I knew He would. Just in a way I didn't expect.

Need sleep now! Jess is already passed out- it has been a long day.
Hope home is swell!

JAPAN Day 9

Hello again from Japan, Yokohama.
9th day over here. Feeling it a little, but excited that today was our first day of outreach!

Yesterday praying for Yokohama with the team. Yesterday was awesome. Some snips of it click this link: https://m.youtube.com/watchfeature=youtu.be&v=UexJtvy59hY

This morning we heard from a local church in Yokohama.  We heard testimonies from the young adults who had given their lives to God, and found the love of Jesus in their own lives. So awesome!
From worship and prayer and hearing from the locals, we were so encouraged.
We then went out and evangelised on the streets of Yokohama. With music, dance and a team that just want to let this culture know how much they are valued in the eyes of their creator!
This was our team of people who were doing ministry. We had lunch together before we went out.  Andrea on the far side of the table was our translator. She has been loving in Japan for the last 30 years, so knows the language and culture extremely well. Which came in handy!

We handed out flyers for the joy festival, and gave out these newspapers that share Japanese testimonies of them finding their faith here, and hope in God.

This is Sarah. She is from Texas, one of the most friendly people I have met. Full of joy, humility and wisdom beyond her years!

With our smaller teams we went around surveying people about what they think Love is. This was an awesome outreach and reason to go up and chat to the people on the streets of Yokohama.
I have found it difficult to communicate with the Japanese over here.. but it was awesome having Andrea on our ministry team.
There was a girl filming the worship some of the team were playing. I went to give her a wristband and our flyer which basically describes the gospel in 4 points, which is also on the wristband. It amazed me how open she was about hearing the love of God and she let me pray for her as Andrea translated. It is awesome to be able to learn how to evangelise to different people here and meet them where they are at. So I am thankful for the people like Andrea to learn from her experiences and knowledge of this culture in Japan.

This is Laura. She is from Canada! She is 19, and full of fun :) have loved getting to know her so far!

 Chris chatting to the locals.
Andrea wrtting "love is" in Japanese.

Woship on the streets of Yokohama with the team.

Some of the ministry team out and about.

Was an awesome, fun and quite an eventful day here. Awesome team building and letting God work through us.

We then had dinner at this Japanese place. So yum! And some lanterns are always necessary!

After dinner there was a media workshop. That wasn't compulsory, but an extra part of shine that we can go to.  We heard from ta film maker that works for Hillsong, London. And His brother who is a director at Pixar. Was awesome to hear more about their work, and story telling through media, to reach the people around us.

Anyway, was another massive day. Need some rest for tomorrow. Keep praying that we have energy and that God will continue to show His love through us over here. I think that is all for now.
Peace!
